Rose Marina Fishing Report - Marco Island, Fl

August 14 – August 20, 2015

CONDITIONS

Standby for lots of storms this coming week. Forecasts show scattered patterns of t-storms every morning and afternoon. So keep an eye on the sky for safety. The rain should help the fishing quality by lowering the water temperature just a tad. (Today the water temp was showing 89 degrees). The winds, thankfully, stay docile and are easterly in the mornings and then switch southwesterly in the afternoons. That is another plus for fishing…..a pure west wind muddies the water. The tides start off the week under the influence of the new moon (moderately strong) but then fade quickly to reasonable mid-week.

CONDITIONS

Thankfully the monsoon is over. But the ten inches of rain have wacked up the fishing (temporarily) with a sudden drop in water temperature from 88 to 82; a big drop in salinity levels and a brown staining of the water from the mangrove runoff. The westerly winds haven’t helped either as they muddy the incoming water. But all that will pass in just a few days as our hot summer returns. Look for improving conditions this weekend and then carrying through the week. Adding to the mix of impediments however is a full moon early weekend with racing tides, especially the afternoon outgoing. That, too, will ease come mid week as we regain normalcy. Good news, the winds remain relatively placid and will help the water go clean and green as they ease in velocity.

CONDITIONS

This week, in addition to the superheated water temperature (89 degrees yesterday) and the real feel air temperatures posted close to 110 degrees, you will have some wind from the west to contend with this weekend. Forecasts call for some afternoons with gusts in the 20 mph category. That will rough up the water offshore and most likely stir up some mud in the open backwaters. Both conditions will have a further effect especially in the backwater……..offshore it will just make it uncomfortable with some rocky sea conditions. But all that will dissipate by mid week and all we’ll be left with to complain about is the awful heat. The water will pick up tidal speed as the week progresses as we’re heading for a full moon. The afternoon incoming will be a bit friendlier than the morning outgoing.

CONDITIONS

We stay in our summer pattern……big time. Hot, humid and daily afternoon thunder-bangers. Some uptick in the rather placid wind we have been experiencing this past week. Look for the early mornings to be generally calm with wind kicking in around 10:30 AM out of the east then shifting southwesterly for the afternoon. Also have to keep an eye on the winds preceding those storms as they can kick up to 20-25 knots very quickly. The tides will also be a factor for you this week as we move to a full moon at the end of the week. Watch out for the afternoon outgoing particularly as it will have a 4′ range come Thursday and Friday. premium domains . And the water temp nears it’s normal limit high and hitting 88 degrees frequently.
